It applies to customers, consignors, people selling second-hand goods to us, website users, suppliers and anyone who contacts us.
2. Personal information we collect
We may collect:
- your name, phone number, email address and address
- details of goods you buy, leave with us, sell to us or consign with us
- quote, job, repair, remodel, custom work and warranty details
- payment details, receipts and transaction references
- SMS, email and other communication records
- contact preferences
- photos of jewellery or goods
- consignor details, including ABN where relevant
- second-hand seller identification details required by law, such as ID type, ID number and issuing authority
- website enquiry and basic technical information, such as browser, device, IP address and pages viewed
We do not store images of identification documents unless the law requires it or we have a specific reason to do so.
3. How we collect information
We collect information when you:
- visit or contact the shop
- request a quote
- leave goods with us
- buy goods from us
- sell or consign goods to us
- contact us by phone, SMS, email, website form or social media
- approve a quote, pay a deposit or make a payment
- ask us to repair, remodel or make jewellery
We may also receive information from payment providers, delivery providers, suppliers, contractors, accountants, government agencies or other people involved in a transaction.

- identify and protect goods left with us

- operate our website, point of sale, Odoo system and business records

5. Who we share information with
We may share information with:
- payment providers, including card terminal providers
- SMS, email, hosting, backup, website and software providers
- external jewellers, setters, engravers, valuers, repairers or other trade suppliers where needed for your job
- consignors, where required for a consignment sale, warranty issue or sale record
- accountants, bookkeepers, insurers and professional advisers
- police, Consumer Affairs Victoria, the Australian Taxation Office or another authority where required or permitted by law
Some service providers may store or process information outside Australia.
6. Payments
Rouge does not need to store your full card number for normal card payments.
Payment providers may give us limited transaction details, such as payment status, card type, last four digits, refund reference or transaction ID.
7. Photos
We may use photos for job records, product records, goods-in records, identification, website display or marketing.
Where a photo relates to a customer’s personal item or custom work, we will take care not to publish personal information with the photo unless agreed.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Access to business systems is limited to people who need it for their role. Business records are backed up and retained for business, accounting, warranty and legal reasons.
9. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, including job history, warranty records, tax records, accounting records, second-hand dealer records, consignment records and dispute protection.
When information is no longer needed and we are not required to keep it, we will delete it, de-identify it or securely archive it.
10. Access and correction
You can ask us to access or correct personal information we hold about you.
We may need to verify your identity before providing access or making changes.
11. Marketing
You can opt out of marketing messages at any time.
Service messages about quotes, jobs, payments, collections, repairs or legal records are not marketing messages.

If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact Rouge Jewellers first so we can review it and respond.
If the matter cannot be resolved, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or another relevant regulator.
