Where are you, and when are you open?
You'll find us at 6 Station Road, Cheltenham. Our current opening hours are shown at the foot of every page - and you're always welcome to call the shop on 03 9584 4000 to check before you visit.
Do I need an appointment, or can I just drop in?
No appointment is needed - you're welcome to drop in during opening hours. If you'd like to be sure of time with the jeweller for a commission or a valuation, a quick call ahead is always welcome.
Do you repair and resize jewellery?
Yes. We re-tip, re-size and re-string, and carry out full restoration in-house, at our own bench. Where a specialist is required to support us, we lean on long-standing relationships with trusted trade suppliers.
Can you remodel or remake a piece I already own?
Yes. Bring us jewellery you no longer wear, including inherited or damaged pieces, and we can assess what may be reused in a new design. Even when it's not re-usable, we can buy it from you to offset the cost of the new piece. Many pieces in Our Custom Work began exactly that way.
Do you make bespoke or custom pieces?
Yes. We design and make bespoke pieces from scratch - drawn, modelled in wax and finished by hand - and you're welcome to use your own stones if you wish.
Do you buy jewellery, or take whole collections?
Yes. Rouge Jewellers is a licensed second-hand dealer. We buy individual pieces and whole collections, including fine, antique and unwanted jewellery. Bring them in and we will talk you through what you have.
Do you provide appraisals and formal written valuations?
Yes. Appraisals are generally carried out in the shop, often on the spot. Formal written valuations for insurance, estate, settlement, donation or tax purposes are arranged through our established relationship with a specialist valuer.
Do you work with antique jewellery?
Yes. Antique and period pieces are a large part of what we do - each one is researched and, where needed, carefully restored before it goes in the cabinet.
Can I buy online, or do you ship?
The cabinet on this site is a window into what's currently in the shop, not an online store. Pieces are viewed and bought in person - call or email and we're glad to hold a piece for you or send more photographs.
Are the pieces in 'Our Custom Work' for sale?
No - those are past commissions and remodels, shown as examples of what we can make. If one inspires you, we'd love to make something similar for you.
Do you buy scrap gold, silver or gemstones?
Yes. As a licensed second-hand dealer, we can purchase scrap or unwanted gold, silver and gemstones. We can pay cash or, if you prefer, apply the value as a discount against a repair, new make or remodel. We help sellers looking for cash for gold from Cheltenham and across the Bayside and South-East Melbourne suburbs.
Can everything from an old piece be reused?
Not always. We will assess what can be incorporated into the new piece. If some material cannot be repurposed, we may be able to purchase it or apply its value against the work.
Is all work carried out in the shop?
Much of the work is carried out at our own bench. For particular processes, we draw on specialist expertise through long-standing relationships across the trade. From first work to final polish, each piece remains in our care.
